What is Color Profile?
A file containing information about the color reproduction capabilities of a device, such as a scanner, a digital camera, a monitor, or a printer. Usually, two profiles (source and output) are used during a color matching session -
Should I use sRGb or Adobe RGB98.?
Debate rages on over the best profile to use for photographic reproduction. It is true that Adobe RGB98 captures more color possibilities. This is only part of the story. Other factors to consider is the profile your lab uses, profile of you monitor, and the reproduction capabilities of the photographic paper or other printing media. -
What color profiles are accepted by Luck Color Lab?
Luck Color lab uses only the sRGB profile at this time. There are several reasons. The two major reasons are that the entire industry runs on sRGB and we need to maintain industry interoperability and the last is that the photographic paper of today is not capable of producing all of the colors available in sRGB much less Adobe RGB98. Inkjet printers can only reproduce the colors available in the much smaller CMYK profile. -
What happens if I send Luck Color Lab an image in a profile other than sRGB?
We do not check the profile of the images sent to us. Our system assumes all images are in sRGB. If you accidentally send images in other profiles the resulting prints will be less than optimum. Typically, the prints will lack saturation and have an annoying magenta skin tone.
This is not correctable and will not be reprinted. -
